The Water and Development Project, implemented by HASENE on Madagascar's Katsepy Island, was put into service with a ceremony. The project, which was carried out with the charitable support of Umrah pilgrims participating in the 2025 December Umrah program organized by the Islamic Community National Vision (IGMG) Hajj and Umrah Presidency, was put into service as an important investment that will provide access to clean and safe drinking water for approximately 10 thousand people in the region.
IGMG Hajj and Umrah President Tahir Köksoy, IGMG Ruhr A Regional President Abdullah Kodaman, Sekka World Water Services Manager İsmail Güllü, Sekka World Country Director Ahmet Hulisi Görür, Sekka World Finance Director Bedrettin Sare and the project delegation attended the opening ceremony.
The project, which aims to provide a permanent solution to the clean water problem that has been experienced for many years on Katsepy Island, was planned as a comprehensive development investment that will improve not only the drinking water supply but also the social life and health conditions of the region.
Within the scope of the project;
Thanks to the project, which was built entirely with modern and sustainable infrastructure, approximately 10 thousand people living on the island have access to clean, safe and regular drinking water. The project, which will eliminate the need for women and children to carry water from kilometers away, will also make a significant contribution to reducing water-borne diseases, improving hygiene conditions and making daily life easier.
Speaking at the opening, IGMG Hajj and Umrah President Tahir Köksoy stated that the Umrah pilgrims who participated in the 2025 December Umrah contributed greatly to the emergence of the project and stated that the charities touched the lives of people in different geographies of the world.
Sekka World Water Services Manager İsmail Güllü stated that water projects are not only infrastructure investments, but also humanitarian aid efforts that support health, education and social development. Güllü stated that the project, supported by a sustainable energy system, is planned to serve the people of the region for many years.
IGMG Ruhr A Regional President Abdullah Kodaman thanked all donors who supported the project and said that every contribution left a permanent mark on the lives of people in need.
